Hill In

It's (reasonably) official: Hillary Clinton wants to be our next president.

Gut reactions:

* No surprise here, of course.
* Does Hillary REALLY think she can win? It seems she can win the D nod, but President Hillary Clinton? Why does she run? To make a point? To be "important"? To make the history books as the first major-party female candidate?
* Hillary is one smart pol. She's apparently done a "good" job at playing the role of "Senator from NY". Has it occurred to her, though, that her getting the nomination increases the chances of the GOP winning, given what a polarizing figure she is?

Time, as always, will tell.

Hopefully, we'll end up with Hillary Clinton vs. Ron Paul. What we'll probably end up with is Hillary Clinton vs. an ideologically indistinguishable Republican cantidate. Maybe John McCain. Or maybe there'll be a national emergency and we'll end up with Acting President Dick Cheney. :p
