Reparations and the Estate Tax

I'm curious: Do those who support abolition of the estate tax (they call it the "death" tax) also support reparations -- in some form -- for African Americans who are descended from slaves? If intergenerational transfers should not be taxed, should not the dramatic tax of slavery be righted?

Call me "provocateur."

Capozzi, you're nuts! I am one of those supporters of death tax repeal that also happen to oppose reparations. The reason is not so much a moral as logistical. After all, I would fully support reparations to slaves if we could actually do something for the slaves themselves, but we can't. Worse, just giving money to people whose ancestors have been wronged will do nothing to help improve the condition of the descendants of former slaves. The death tax, on the other hand, destroys family businesses and farms, thus hurting economic growth.

If the goal is to help african americans thrive, treating them equally and creating favorable conditions for economic growth and educational achievement, not reparations, would be the best policy.
