Engineering Taxes

Mr. Binder's problems begin with the idea that taxes exist to do social engineering. Taxes are to raise money to run the government.

Second is the idea that taxing business is not taxing individuals. Tax is a part of the cost of doing business and is reflected in the price of the product. So who pays?

Third, when a household of four spending at a $27,000 annual rate pays zero effective tax, spending at $54,000 has an effective rate of 11% and over $100,000 at an effective rate of 22% be seen to move tax obligation from the upper class to the middle class?

One final question. Would you rather get a tax deduction for interest on a mortgage or pay that mortgage with pre-tax dollars?
