November 08, 2005Oh Now They Tell UsPaul Gessing is quite correct when he notes that according to the Constitution only Congress can declare war. However Congress is principally filled with spineless dopes, half-wits, and opportunists. If the war was going really well right now all the anti-war partisans of both parties would now be tripping all over each other in order to get in front a TV camera to explain how they "stand with our President and the troops!" If the rules were followed, combat operations of any sort would be illegal other than for immediate self-defense without a on the record roll call vote of both houses to declare war. Either we are all in this together or we aren’t. I'm not defending Bush. But I am calling out Shumer, Rockefeller, Durbin, Hegel, and all the others who had neither the wisdom nor the balls to vote "no" on war. They all voted "yes" to war and look at them now. Where was all this passion in 2003? Any one remember the quote about evil triumphing when the good do nothing? --Ali Massoud Return to the Free Liberal Homepage |
