The People Have Spoken…the Bastards!

Despite what Kofi Annan, Amnesty International, the George Soros Foundation, or the Brady Campaign all said. The people of Brazil rejected banning guns by a 65% margin. So what does a South American policy expert based at the Independent Institute say about the referendum’s failure? Well, this:

“So, what is the result of the referendum all about?”, says Alvaro Vargas Llosa. “[I would argue] it was a resounding condemnation of the failure of the Brazilian state to make true on the primary claim of any government -- i.e. that it will protect the people. The vote was essentially an indictment of the Brazilian authorities -- at all levels -- as the guarantors of social order. Brazilians massively supported the argument put forward by the spokespersons for the "no" side that banning guns would deprive the population of protection against bandits because the police, that quintessential government institution, is simply not to be trusted.”

Yep. The vote was a resounding condemnation of the failure of the Brazilian state to make true on the primary claim of any government -- i.e. that it will protect people. Which it sure doesn’t, but then to insult them further it wants make them even more vulnerable. And Brazilians rejected all this. Go figger.
