TFL Update: Free Liberal Goes Free!

"A Free Liberal is a person who values individual freedom, is alive to the dangers inherent in all forms of power and authority, and believes in the possibility of the rule of law, equal justice, fundamental rights, and a free and prosperous society."

Dear Friends,

I have some exciting news about the Free Liberal to tell you.

First, we'll be printing our fourth issue next week, and it will be our most widely read issue ever. We're printing 15,000 copies, and will be mailing them to Congress, national media outlets, and to the policy community in Washington and all over the country.

Also, I will be bringing 5,000 copies with me to Atlanta for the Libertarian National Convention. There we will distribute them to every delegate and give away bundles for activists to take back to their communities. And we will recruit people to become permanent distributors of the magazine.

Second, we are reworking our business model to make the Free Liberal truly FREE to distribute. For this next issue we are only asking that folks pay any shipping and handling charges that we incur in getting it to them. Otherwise, it's free.

But, we're intent on getting it to the maximum number of readers. We want to be able to send boxes of the newspaper or a subscription to anyone who wants one. But, this means we will have to rely on advertising and donations to pay to print the Free Liberal.

So, we're launching a non-profit that can accept tax-deductible donations to house the Free Liberal. The Center for Liberty and Community will be filing for incorporation in the next couple months and applying for 501c3 status.

The Center for Liberty and Community will be dedicated towards promoting the synergies between classical liberal and libertarian ideas on government and communitarian concerns such as environmental protection, equality of opportunity, diversity and tolerance, and corporate responsibility.

We already have a fantastic board of directors lined up and I will be sending out an announcement about that in the next month or so.

In the meanwhile, we are still looking for more advertisers and donors for the upcoming Free Liberal. Please let me know if you or someone you know would be interested in sponsoring the printing of the magazine or help covering the costs of sending it to our hard-working distributors.

Our mailing address is: The Free Liberal, PO Box 325, Woodbridge, VA 22194. Donations are not tax-deductible.

Cheers,

Kevin D. Rollins
Editor & Publisher, The Free Liberal
